Great products are loved by the consumer, more than they are by the industry

I am a(n):
Entrepreneur

Companies I work or worked for:
Achievements (products built, personal awards won):

Voted by CNET Editors as one of the top one hundred bloggers on the Internet... but in my current role, Intel awarded me their highest developer honor for my work on Console OS and iConsole.tv.

If you are an entrepreneur, why?
Great products that improve people's lives don't build themselves.

My favorite startups:
Code 42, Automattic, Google

What's most frustrating and rewarding about entrepreneurship/innovation?
The most frustrating thing has to be the current economic policy of Quantitative Easing, which has inherently stifled innovation in the startup field. The most rewarding thing has to be when you put the product in the hands of an average person, and they want to use it more than what the big players are selling today.

What's the No. 1 mistake entrepreneurs make?
They think just because they've built the right product that the industry will welcome it with open arms. Usually, great products are loved by the consumer, more than they are by the industry.

What are the top three lessons you've learned as an entrepreneur?
1) Always factor out dependencies on other companies. Even companies that tout how much they love startups, can just as easily hate disruption.
2) Feature the things you love as placeholders/collateral when your products - even if something else might work better as window dressing, you'll feel more passion about your product - and that will drive you to make it a better product overall.
3) Don't let up on the press. If they don't want to cover you (or ignore you) ask them why. Many times, they'll come around just because you had the fortitude to know why they wouldn't give you the time of day. And, if they have a reason, it's feedback you need to hear.

Console OS is Android™ remastered for the desktop.

We've taken Android apart and rebuilt it to be a mainstream desktop operating system. With support for dual-booting alongside Windows™, people with PCs, PC Tablets, and 2-in-1's can now enjoy Android at performance levels never before reached by the platform.

Console OS is designed to run stand-alone, meaning it doesn't have the performance limitations of solutions that run inside of Windows. It does however install from within Windows, making it easy to set up and use.

For the first time, you don't have to buy a Windows tablet, and an Android tablet, to enjoy the two universes of apps without compromise. That's Console OS.

Thousands of people have already signed on to the Console OS vision, with a very successful Kickstarter campaign already closed. Console OS is expected to go into beta late this year.

In the long-term, we plan to keep pushing the limits of Android out, to speed Android's rise as the most popular OS worldwide, on all your devices.

Console OS is the main focus of Mobile Media Ventures, Inc, headquartered in California. We're also building iConsole™, a new kind of Android console.

(While we're currently headquartered in Santa Clara, we are open to other final locations - including both Southern California and Nevada - we expect those discussions to continue over the next 60-90 days as we talk to relevant parties).
