CanvasPop partners with Instagram to make wall art
Decorating your house with Instagram pictures just got a whole lot easier
Taking pictures on mobile devices and running them through dozens of fun filters is easier than ever, but most of those pictures live on our phones, laptops and Facebook pages. But now a new online startup called Canvas Pop has partnered with Instagram to make turning your photo creations from a social buzz into a household adornment.
The nearly three-year-old Canada-based startup announced Tuesday that it created a new partnership with the photo filtering and sharing site.
Any of the more than 10 million Instagram users can now print photos shared on the site into 12" x 12" or 20" x 20" canvas prints.
"We take great pride in being the most innovative player in our industry," Adrian Salamunovic, CanvasPop co-founder, said in a statement. "We're proud to be the first company to print Instagram photos on canvas in large format."
Instagram users, who upload nearly 1.3 million photos daily, can now decorate their houses or gift the prints to friends and family anywhere. Especially with the growing resolution quality of mobile devices and compact cameras, the ability to blow up the images to sizes as large as 20" x 20" is allowing for more capabilities.
And canvas is renowned for it forgiving nature on slightly askew or grainy images since the medium is often chosen to give texture -- and the Instgram filters are made to increase color saturation and give more vintage appearances to new shots.
The founders at CanvasPop noticed that the same early adopters and social interacters that were on Instagram were on their site, it was only a matter of time before the two young companies partnered up.
Another service that has recently partnered with Instagram is Postagram - which allows users to turn their pictures into postcards for $0.99 a pop.
How does it work:
You simply go to the CanvasPop website and choose from the two size options. The 12" x 12" is $29.95 and the 20" x 20" is $59.95.
Then you select if you want a white or a black border.
Then you sign into Instagram and pick the pic you want to print.
CanvasPop will ship it to you and, in no time, you can decorate those bare walls and monotone hallways.
The company already allows a wider range of options for images directly uploaded from your computer to the site, including touchups, more variety, and color enhancements for varying fees -- but this new connection with Instagram introduces an even larger group of possible clients to make their digital images into physical art in just four clicks.
I, for one, am always excited to find more ways to turn all my digital creations into real show pieces -- now I just have to decide the layouts I want.
