26th Annual AAA Texas NHRA Nationals
Going Big in the 26th Annual AAA Texas NHRA Nationals
Get ready to go big at the Texas Motorplex for the AAA Texas NHRA Nationals this year! This track provides optimum traction and allows crews the opportunity to fine-tune their cars to achieve some sweet national record performances at the strip.
This event, which is the second chance for countdown teams to earn points for series championships, is only one week after the Charlotte event, which makes for a quick turnaround for championship-hungry teams. Last year was a thrilling weekend of racing, as it tightened the points battles in all four NHRA Full Throttle classes – Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle. Tony Schumacher, Matt Hagan, Greg Anderson, and LE Tonglet all scored major victories in their classes at Texas in 2010, and with any luck, they can do it again this year.
Coming out of Charlotte, the unofficial points standings have Antron Brown at the top of the Top Fuel class just 16 points head of Spencer Massey, whom he defeated in the finals at Charlotte. Mike Neff leads the Funny Car race by 22 points over Matt Hagan – following a Charlotte final in which Hagan beat Neff to win the Wally. In Pro Stock, Jason Line parlayed a runner-up finish in Charlotte into a 31-point lead over Greg Anderson, while Eddie Krawiec leads Karen Stoffer by 63 points in Pro Stock Motorcycle following his Charlotte victory over Stoffer.
Local radio station Lone Star 92.5FM and the Texas Motorplex have teamed up with Harley Davidson to make this year’s AAA Texas NHRA Fall Nationals even bigger by giving away a 2012 Harley-Davidson Nightster Motorcycle and a set of tickets to the event. All you have to do is enter at their website.
The NHRA and Full Throttle have put together some awesome drag racing events all season, and this year’s event at the Texas Motorplex, September 22-25, is sure to be just as action packed as it was last year.
In addition to more great racing, fans will get an even better race day experience this year. All ticket holders in the Super Seats section will get exclusive VIP access to the starting line on Sunday, September 25, to have coffee and donuts with NHRA Funny Car champion, and all-around nice guy, Robert Hight from John Force Racing! Hight, the driver of the AAA Texas Ford Mustang, will be able to give Super Seats fans an up-close and personal view of what it is like to prepare for Championship Sunday.
This event is sure to be something you won’t want to miss. So mark your calendars and get the sunscreen ready for this coming September 22nd through the 25th for the AAA Texas NHRA Fall Nationals. It’s happening in Texas so you know it’s going to be HUGE!
