Sponsorship in the NHRA Has Its Perks

With racing becoming more and more exciting, and the stakes getting higher every year, the equipment racers and teams use continues to become state-of-the-art, especially as corporations become more involved in sponsoring teams to show their customers that they support their favorite sport.

Corporations such as Auto-Plus, FRAM Auto parts and MAC Tools play a huge role in NHRA today, with race promotions, and by providing teams with the necessary financial support, parts and equipment they need to make their cars perform at their best. These sponsors also make up much of the look of the cars by putting their logo on them with high gloss paint and other decals. NHRA itself uses a sponsor, Full Throttle, to help promote the exciting world of drag racing and to sponsor its series championship race. Full Throttle even went as far as to create the catch phrase “Go Full Throttle or go home” as a way to show that at NHRA, “we don’t mess around when it comes to going fast.” Team sponsorship is an excellent way to tell fans and other teams that a company is the best at what you do.

Some teams operate with huge budgets because of their sponsors, but other teams that are on a fixed budget – and you can see that in the quality of the car and the setup of their pit area. If the team has a lot of money, their pit area can look like a luxury resort complex, with private 40 foot motorhomes for drivers, and split level trailers for their cars. They also often have separate motorhomes for the team employees.

There all kinds of other perks that go along with winning if a team has a lucrative sponsorship to help pay the bills. Things like pit bikes and tow vehicles for the race car, and clothing for all team members, can make it great to be a winner in the drag racing world. Drivers of these cars are almost assured a nice salary, with bonuses for winning as well.

Sponsors want to help drag racing continue to grow, and are committed to doing everything they can to provide a safe and exciting race environment for their teams as well as the spectators that come out to the track to cheer on their favorite drivers.

Who is your favorite race team?
