The Social Network rings up $23M in the box office, ClairMail raises $13.8M

The film The Social Network rang up $23 million in ticket sales its debut weekend. The film, which chronicles the creation of Facebook from multiple points of view, made its money from a predominately American audience.

LG delays the launch of their tablet. Thew tablet computer, which would be based on Googles,  Android 2.2 operation system would have been called "Froyo". The makers feel that the OS is still too unstable.

ClairMail raised $13.8 million in funding. The round was led by Investor Growth Capital , JAFCO Ventures, Northwest Venture Partners and Outlook Ventures. CalirMail creates a mobile banking and payments platforms.

Privalia Venta Directa has raised €70m, or $95 million. The round was led by General Atlantic and Index Ventures. Other investors included Highland Capital.

Twitter enables limited number of account actions for end users. The limitations will effect the number of direct messages, API Requests and updates made daily. 

Verizon to make a massive refund. The announced that about 15 million customers will be getting cash back for unauthorized data charges. The amount of money refunded is expetced to be about $50 million.

Toshiba announced the release date of the first no glasses required 3D TV. The Tv's will be available in December, but only to consumers in Japan.

Microsoft sued Motorola. Microsoft claims that their Android phones infringed on nine of its patents. Actions were filed in both Washington District Court and the International Trade Commission.
