Startup gets round from Sherpalo Ventures and Tandem Entrepreneurs
ZumoDrive, a startup which lets users access their multimedia from their PC's on their mobile device, has raised $1.5 million in funding. New investor Sherpalo Ventures led the round and was joined by previous investors Tandem Entrepreneurs and VeriFone CEO Douglas Bergeron. Tandem Entrepreneurs made an initial investment in the company back in 2007.What's great about ZumoDrive is it helps you save space on your mobile device. In my case, instead of having my iPhone's harddrive filled with multimedia, instead I can use ZumoDrive to access all this media from the cloud. The company focuses on music, photos, videos and documents.
"ZumoDrive has a rapidly growing user base that is already generating strong revenue, so this funding is simply a boost that will drive additional improvements in the product to make this the best solution for users” said Ram Shriram, founder of Sherpalo Ventures LLC in a statement. “As consumers continue to purchase additional mobile and portable devices, ZumoDrive is poised to be a key player in helping them access content seamlessly from any device."
ZumoDrive offers a gigabyte of storage free of charge and then several other plans starting at $2.99/month for 10GB all the way up to $79.99 for 500GB.
The Burlingame, Ca.-based startup said the funding would be invested in product development and building channel relationships to more widely distribute ZumoDrive.
