What am I Missy, Episode 20

Facebook’s FB fund 2009 this week announced its 25 finalists. The selected will be mentored and guided by Facebook engineers and executives, along with successful entrepreneurs, angel investors, and venture capitalists including Accel Partners, Facebook and First Round Capital. One finalist worth noting is mychurch.org. If one Sunday a week is not enough God time, go to myChurch.org. It’s a place to connect with your church community, express your faith in a safe place, shop around for other churches, or meet your soul date... err, I mean mate.

At Vator we love to see original videos from startups. We found this one particularly funny as Chris Cunningham, appssavvy CEO, roams the streets in search of attention and someone who understands the familiar startup terms – “utility, virality and engagement”. One scene has Cunningham hopping out of a box and telling a random lady walking by what he just did. In another scene, Cunningham asks people on the street if they'd "like something that's viral," prompting one person to respond: "That sounds scary." For a good laugh, check out the whole clip on appssavvy's Vator profile.

This week, nearly 700 entrepreneurs, artists, investors, and technology developers gathered at the San Fran Music Tech Summit. Despite the downturn, attendance was up from last year! At the event – you could learn how to market your own music and reach your fans. This year's draw was Matt Morris, a songwriter from Justin Timberlake's label Tennman Records. Overall, the conference was a blast, with a bunch of startups showcasing their iPhone apps like Smule."The musical summit's attendance was up from last year, despite the economic downturn," according to event founder Brian Zisk. "A lot of conferences are off but we are on... We are having such a great turn out, but the important part is the quality of these folks. They are coming out for this event and finding what they want such as connecting with people, getting financing, promoting what they're doing, and even finding jobs. We even had an extra 150 people sign up."
