Funding roundup: Playfish, Helium raise $17M

Playfish, Helium, TuneCore, and iStores receive funding this week

Here's a roundup of companies in the mobile, video, digital media, social network, and advertising sectors that announced their funding this past week.

 

 Playfish raised $17 million from Accel Partners and Index Ventures, according to a press release. The Palo Alto-based start up is a developer and publisher of games for social networks.

 

 

 Helium raised $17 million from Northport Private Equity,  Signature Capital, and  other undisclosed backers according to RedHerring. The Boston-based start up is a site where users can write articles sharing advice and debating hot topics.

 

 

DigitalBridge Communications Corp. raised $16 million from Paladin Capital Group, RedShift Ventures, CNF Investments, and Novak Biddle Venture Partners, according to Yahoo Finance. The Rexburg, Idaho-based company is the largest private provider of WiMAX broadband services in America.

 


Crispygamers raised $8.25 million from J.P. Morgan’s Constellation Ventures, according to VentureBeat . The New York-based company was developed for the serious videogamer who wants news, reviews and information.

 

Access360Media raised $8 million from Mission Ventures and Bessemer Venture Partners, according to PE Hub. The New York and California-based start up is the leading multi-platform media network that                                                                  that connects users with the products they are looking for.

 


TuneCore raised $7 million for music distribution from Opus Capital, according to  TheDeal.com. The Brooklyn, New York-based start up gives musicians the option to distribute their music and videos to iTunes as well as other vendors on the Web.

 

 

 

AdaptiveBlue raised $4.5 million led by RRE Ventures, according to Digital Business Live. The Livingston, New Jersey-based company is a  provider of a                                    research and organization plug-in for the Firefox browser.

Kriyari, the company that owns online shopping site iStorez raised $2.3 million from Norwest Venture Partners, according to StartupMeme.The San Jose, California-based company aggregates specials, newsletters, and coupons from other online stores to help its customers search for bargains.
