A Tweet that really caught my imagination!
Thanks to @katrinah for this quote, truly inspiring. Enough to make me blog!
Well, it has never happened before to me, but thanks to @katrinah of Twitter I came across this inspiring phrase she had found from a woman named Margaret Mead:
Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world... it is the only thing that ever has
That
statement of how even the smallest group of people can change the world
is something I think we all strive to do in the business world and the
Web 2.0 space, many of us find ourself of the cusp of unique
innovation, moving at the speed of a jet engine towards a big change in
the market we target. Small groups of innovative, thoughtful people do
however need to coexist with the larger groups of innovative teams of
hundreds to create something even more uniquely powerful, creating
collaboration between all to create a more unified product which can be
represented in a more wholesome form.
Even those who may work on
the smallest Linux Distro, or the smallest Web 2.0 startup with a
couple of $100k in funding all have equal place in this technology
world, but the idea of them changing the world is something many
believe as pure myth and will shun them to one side in place of other
more well known brands. But we do see the investment that bigger
companies put towards smaller companies, showing that overall
acceptance that even smaller groups of people can lead to bigger
worldwide changes in any industry.
If you are catching my drift
on this post, then well done because what I am writing is much much
different to anything I have wrote before, but when I feel so compelled
to write like this, I know it should sound OK when read back (hopefully)
If
smaller companies begin to make bigger more substantial changes in the
industries then we can quote this key sentence as gospel for any new
startup who joins the Web 2.0 industry, or any industry for that matter.
If
you yourself are involved in a blog author, editor, contributor or
commenter who writes about small startups, Web 2.0 companies and other
businesses, then consider this statement when you next blog about how
great Google is doing with Android, or Microsoft with PhotoSynth!
