Randy Dunnett grew up loving everything about baseball. And after a playing career that took him to college and the professional ranks, he has found his niche has a baseball instructor and coach.
After he got out of high school Randy Dunnett attended South Suburban Community College in South Holland, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. He stayed with the team for two years before transferring to Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee, where he played another two years and completed the coursework for his degree.
Randy Dunnett graduated in 1999 with a degree in Business Administration, which he would put to good use in the near future.
First, though, Randy Dunnett played more baseball. He signed a contract with the Cook County Cheetahs in the Frontier League right out of college to begin his professional career. He played for the Cheetahs for two seasons before deciding to retire in 2001.
Before he retired from playing, however, he’d had an off-season job as a baseball instructor with Jack Perconte Sports. Then he got a call from his old team, now known as the Thunderbolts. “I was a minor league pitching coach in 2004 for the Windy City Thunderbolts.”
