The film The Social Network rang up $23 million in ticket sales its debut weekend. The film, which chronicles the creation of Facebook from multiple points of view, made its money from a predominately American audience.
LG delays the launch of their tablet. Thew tablet computer, which would be based on Googles, Android 2.2 operation system would have been called “Froyo”. The makers feel that the OS is still too unstable.
ClairMail raised $13.8 million in funding. The round was led by Investor Growth Capital , JAFCO Ventures, Northwest Venture Partners and Outlook Ventures. CalirMail creates a mobile banking and payments platforms.
Privalia Venta Directa has raised €70m, or $95 million. The round was led by General Atlantic and Index Ventures. Other investors included Highland Capital.
