In 1995 invented the concept for ShopFactory - the world's first software to allow non programmers to create online shops.
This led to the creation of 3D3.COM Pty Ltd, where he is still the CTO and 50% owner today. ShopFactory has been used to create more than 226,700 shops around the world to date, mainly in Europe and in the US. ShopFactory was also the world's first solution which allowed non programmers to create shops in 3D (VRML) as well as in multiple languages.
Invented and patented a solution to protect client side e-commerce by encrypting buy now buttons to stop the falsifying of prices.
GlobeCharge was created as a spin-off of 3D3.COM to provide e-Commerce services to merchants with online shops created with ShopFactory. It was incorporated in 2003, with Steffan being the CEO and 50% owner.
GlobeCharge has been selected as a service provider by the International Finance Corporation IFC, a division of the WorldBank, to help sellers in developing countries and disadvantaged communities profit from eCommerce opportunities. It counts among its customers tens of thousands of small and medium sized companies as well as larger brands such as Air France, KLM and Panasonic.
Invented and patented the Sell Anywhere Links concept to continue to revolutionize e-commerce beyond 2008.

Yes, journalism has changed unbelievably since I stopped working as Foreign correspondent in the mid nineties. These kind of eyewitness reports give an amazing insight into events as they unfold. To me the quality of citizen journalism is not the issue, as long as the information is correct. I always found it extremely frustrating to follow up on well presented news stories on TV, on radio or on the newswires to write my own story, only to find out the original report had been badly researched and was factually incorrect. If I can have real information over glib presentation, I’ll take the information anytime !
