  • Thank you for a great insiders view of salesmanship. I once listened to the radio play of Glengarry Glen Ross which was, before this post, my best insight into the world of sales. Since founding a start-up company in 2006 I have found that getting a new company off of the ground has a lot more to do with salesmanship than with innovation or passion, and now I am perpetually on the lookout for ideas on how to sell my company more effectively. Selling a company to investors is a bit different that selling a product or service. Cold calling is right out, as are direct mailers, and most other standard sales techniques as investors are inundated with requests and most end up straight in the trash. Getting an investor on board has a lot more to do with connecting with the right people, getting the right referral, and then delivering the perfect short pitch - generally in person. The most gripping part of your article was the sales steps which are completely applicable to my situation: Attention, Interest, Decision, Action. I would love any additional tips you might have for grabbing attention, building interest, getting the "yes" decision, and closing the deal (action). Thanks again! http://logic-shop...

  • I agree that a responsible investment policy would involve looking at the investment to job creation ratio, but are investors ready to take responsibility for the effect they have on the greater domestic economy?
