John joined Vator.tv in Sept. 2007 after covering public technology companies for more than a decade, most recently as the technology editor and a senior columnist for Dow Jones MarketWatch from 2004-2007.
Before that, he covered venture capital and investment banking as a senior writer for the San Francisco Chronicle and covered Cisco Systems and the networking industry as a correspondent for Business Week magazine. He was also a reporter for Bloomberg News and a Staff Editor at Forbes.com.
John has done hundreds of radio segments over the years and was a regular guest correspondent on KCBS-AM in San Francisco. He's also appeared on CNBC and network affiliate TV stations dozens of times.
He's been the first to report on many important stories in technology and finance that were later followed by the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times and others major media outlets. His best scoops include:
-the details of the Google auction IPO in April 2004
-the hidden costs of offshoring IT work in Nov. 2003
-the damage that dying dotcoms would inflict upon Cisco, Sun and other hardware makers in March 2001
-the acquisition of Bay Networks by Northern Telecom (nortel) in may 1998

Yes. Not sure if it was Mark's unpolished skills as a presenter or because it was all a bit affected, but a lot of it came across as pie-in-the-sky stuff.

Follow-up on the interview with Jim Louderback, who said in reply to an email that Revision3 has no plans to bring charges against anti-piracy company MediaDefender, "because they don't have the money and we don't have the time." But he does plan to "send them a bill." As noted in our story, MediaDefender brought down Revision3's servers with a denial-of-service attack over Memorial Day Weekend.
