It's a nice idea, letting users choose when to update to the new look, but I also think 1. they should warn users that there's no going back, and 2. maybe be upfront about the fact that eventually all users are going to have to accept the changes. I really doubt Facebook will let anyone stay in old Facebook Profile land forever.

I don't think that Facebook or even Twitter are overvalued companies, but I do think their successes are creating a small tech bubble where startup companies try in great numbers to bank on that success.

I agree. When I first heard about Twitter, I didn't fully "get" it, which I think is still true for most people who don't actually use the site. Once you sign up, start following a few people, and realize it's not exactly a "social network," you start to see its value in other ways. For me, it's an indispensable news source.

Good point. You can see the goings-on with your favorite celebrity faster by following their Facebook or Twitter than by reading any magazine or watching any TV show.

Since Twitter gives high-profile people like celebrities and politicians a voice directly to the people, I wonder if we'll see a decrease in pundits' influence. Are we already seeing it?

The Atom processor is designed especially for netbooks (and I guess tablet computers) because it's supposed be extremely efficient at using battery life. But then, I don't know how the iPad can still manage to last twice as long.

I had that same thought. On the other hand, YouTube, that is, Google, has some serious strength that an up and coming site may not be able to compete with. For example, we recently found out that YouTube sees 24 hours of video uploaded to its site every minute: ["http://vator.tv...

You can never be sure. Facebook has already come out saying the suit is completely without merit, naturally. I expect Google to do the same. Considering that both defending parties have so much legal clout, I think it will be a tough fight for Winksite.

@David/Planet webfoot: I totally agree and have been keenly interested in citizen journalism from the beginning. It's just another excellent example of how the Internet and social tools in particular are providing the ordinary person with access to a brilliant array of power and tools previously only available to a limited few.
