Robert's comments

  • It is an interesting, but not unexpected development. As Matthias points out the targeting mechanism is pretty tried and true so not revolutionary. It is also smart on My Spaces part since it makes it easier for traditional advertisers to deal with, since its essentially the same way they have been buying media for years. And quite frankly if they want to reach this demographic at all they have no choice, the time spent in media numbers show this. What will be interesting to watch is when advertisers and publishers start experimenting with some better more engaging forms of advertising.

  • This is pretty typical behavior. Advertising spend tends to concentrate on the leaders in a given media because it is easier to buy from a few providers than many. Advertisers tend to be more evolutionary than revolutionary. This trend will not likely change

  • This is a bit of an apples to oranges comparison. For one thing the Microsoft deal is just a rumor now and for another its a strategic investment versus the one just closed by Demand which is financial investment. Strategics are know to invest at higher valuations since the objectives are different. But agree that the Demand valuation is still lofty. Definitely a trend for later stage deals.

  • I like the idea, but think the company is going to face an uphill battle with other social networks to acquire users. The site is well done, but as of now not differentiated enough with features that might compel people to use it over other sites. Also I would guess they will need to focus on keeping the content fresh so that it continues to attract visitors over a longer period of time.

  • Very interesting idea. If they get the right set of content could become addictive and viral. So far the site looks pretty good, but it will definitely be a challenge to keep it fresh and relevant. They might consider hosting some live debate by partnering with Ustream or others.

  • Interesting company filling the gap between UGC and professionally produced. Does a nice job of describing what they are trying to do, would be helpful to understand more how this idea would scale. Also a short demo or interview with student film makers might be good.

  • entertaining way to pitch the company. Would be great if we could get a bit more detail about the company and maybe a demo.

  • Alec does a great job demonstrating the benefits of the product. This is a terrific use of video and vator. If he is looking for investors and partners would be good to pitch the business model a bit more. As for the service itself, it seems useful, but I would be concerned that it might be a bit too heavy weight to get fast adoption. No sure what the sales model is, perhaps enterprise sales integrating into blackberry servers, but that will likely be a challenge. They might consider integrating more tightly with Exchange and Activesync to get to a larger user base and a different sales model.

  • I agree with with all the comments, Paul is a pro. This pitch would REALLY benefit from a demo. The concept is easily grokked, but would be even better understood to see it in action.

  • Reza does a nice job describing the service, would be helpful to have a demo. Depending on what he is trying to accomplish with the pitch should consider adding more detail about how large the market is and how he is going to cost effectively acquire customers.

  • Chris does a nice job describing the service and benefits to all involved in the transaction. He also does an adequate job describing the market and business model. Very interesting service and the company seems to be executing well. The only suggestion would be to add a demo and perhaps benefits and ways to partner with them

  • Anurag does a nice job describing the service, difficult to do a demo of a mobile application. Not entirely sure how much user demand there will be for this service so it might be helpful to understand why people will use the service.

  • Not entirely clear how they are really differentiated from a number of sites, where they get the content, and what the quality or demand for the content is. The pitch could be much more concise and shorter. Would be helpful to have more details on how they quire users, and content.

  • Craig does a very nice job pitching the value proposition for the end user. It solves a very real problem and seem quite compelling. If he is only trying to attract users with this pitch should work fine. If however he would like to attract partners and investors I would like to see more information on how he acquires users, how the company is defensible in the early stages, and a bit more on the business model.
