a friend of a friend to bring a vc a game changing startup is like waiting to get hit by lightning. this may explain why the valley is full of funded garbage startups and their failure rate is as high as 80%. you need a "broad view" and "open mind" as to where tech is going and postition your investments to capitalize on the ever changing landscape. keeping windows of opportunity closed and waiting for a friend to knock on your door with a game changer startup is wishful thinking.

the mobile stategy? i understand it requires the creation of mobile location based services for user engagement, user attention and retention. seems the best place to stategize, position and leverage long tail bite size premium content.

rozen hit on something. key word required on Google to compete "own that spot". no one will ever own that spot on google. they may cpc lease but never own. what if you were to own pianolocator.com. its niche, its natural language, its top level, its universal, its location based. give businesses custom offerings such as paloalto.pianolocator.com, you@pianolocator.com. this is an example of the type of strategic niche offerings small business and search engines would gravitate to naturally. self propelled natural language location based niche offerings. whomever creates the greatest strategic multichannel niche offerings will win the local game.

Congradulations Thumbtack. nice to see a company attempt to harness small business that is 70% of the economy and is undominated by any major player. the answer to the question is probably not. thumbtack will be competing with companies like mylocator that are a network of 1200 self propelled natural language distribution channels specializing in small business. offering niche email, niche subsites, niche top level natural language location. the real race is who will win local mobile search. location, location, location, niche, niche, niche, offerings, offerings, offerings. whom ever does this the best will have the greatest capacity to evolve and dominate local online and mobile search. Best of Skill

starting with structured organized categories........who knew? where is the social aspect? personalization? custom niche email? custom niche subsites? premium location? they are on the right track but until they can offer custom strategic niche personalization offerings i dont see kozmic being a serious G contender. are they gonna offer email at joe2009@kozmix.com, not helpful. cosmic with a K is gonna have to be spelled out when spoken. 99% of people wont know what your talking about or how to spell the domain. the cure for search begins with communication and understanding aka natural language. http://www.killer... product and service placement boils down to product and service location. Location is everything for user and business online success. Always has been and nothings changed even before the internet. Got Location? If not it could be time to find yourself.

What are you working on? is the thesis for the company. is this big brother in a cubicle. from my experience people dont like to be disturbed or followed while they work. Imagine the Messages: get busy, where are you, may i use the restroom, no you may not, sit in your chair, what are you doing, listen to me, i am your boss, your fired. I can see it now, this will ignite legislaters to make it illegal to poke someone while they are working.:)

TV is not the main meal. maybe if you like baloney. TV mainstream media is on its way out. Your gonna be allright as long as you have a keyboard wired to your hdtv screens connected to the greatest platform in history of media. A diminished capacity can be a sign of watching too much oneway tv. Chow down on the net.
