Spotplex is the only online content aggregation service that dynamically provides an instant, impartial ranking of popular Web content. With Spotplex, Internet users are not required to change their behavior to generate content rankings. By eliminating tagging and voting, Spotplex more accurately reflects what people read most today.
Based on an algorithm-based measuring system that analyzes readers’ behavior in real time, Spotplex’s popular content rankings come from actual impressions, or “reads”. This impartial process gives every blogger a better opportunity to be heard. Spotplex also uses a relative popularity measure by which article reads are measured relative to a site’s overall traffic, rather than by volume alone. This evens the playing field so all blogs can compete equally in the Spotplex rankings, regardless of readership size or subject matter.
For consumers, Spotplex provides a 24x7 resource for diverse content of unlimited subject scope — from mainstream to niche interests. Site features such as user comments and sharing capabilities turn Spotplex into an interactive community. Graphical tools by each post give consumers additional insight into article and blog traffic.
By inserting a single line of HTML code into their sites, bloggers can instantly track the number of article reads, which is dynamically updated on the Spotplex site. This provides accurate insight into blog rankings, driving traffic to sites with great content regardless of size or subject matter. Spotplex also offers bloggers downloadable widgets to instantly analyze viewer traffic and to list other popular articles on their site, increasing reader retention over time.
Currently in the phase of gathering bloggers and readers, Spotplex will generate revenue from advertisements and from premium tools offered to bloggers.

Doyon Kim is the CEO and founder of Spotplex, Inc., a content aggregation service that provides bloggers and consumers with popular content and news based on actual reads. Prior to starting Spotplex, Mr. Kim co-founded Dialpad Communications, an internet phone service, where he developed successful consumer products and led the company's marketing efforts. Under his guidance, Dialpad grew to one million registered users within eight weeks of launching and to over 10 million users in 12 months before it was acquired by Yahoo! in 2005. He also founded Opinity, Inc., an online reputation management start-up. As chief product officer, Mr. Kim was responsible for Opinity's product development, global marketing, and strategic enterprise relationships. Mr. Kim received his bachelor's degree in political science and diplomacy from Yonsei University and his MBA from the University of Michigan.
Anytime you can leverage a large distribution group by offering a free tool and generate ad revenues you have a great opportunity. That said, I am not sure that this tool will be widely adopted by the blog community because the nature of most blogs is not to read the most viewed posts, but to read the most current.
So while its a nice secondary feature, I don't see why any of the blog services couldn't add it in very short order as a new feature. Further I see a real problem in spoofing the numbers rather easily if I as a company wanted to ensure my story remained near the top viewed of a blog.......
Great idea with tremendous potential but also terribly difficult to implement. I am happy to see that I am not the only one who dislikes the opinion-driven tracking/ranking systems, such as Digg It and del.icio.us. Spotplex shifts the "pre-qualification" to the blogger or content provider, who must add a line of (hidden) code to an article. The end user -and one may argue again about me working unknowingly to the benefit of others- automatically "votes" merely by loading the article, with this absolute fact making the decision instead of an objective or subjective quality judgement of the content provided in this article. While the absolute count of readers of an article may at least point out a generally popular news source or blog, there are no specifics as to how the relative weights are assigned to specific articles other than by overall popularity of the site. Spotplex may not have the ultimate solution to the problem but I do like the usability of the web site - take it with a grain of salt and it is an interesting web destination worth your time, over and over again.
