If you're an entrepreneur or corporate innovator, why?

I want to change the world.

My favorite startups:

Task Rabbit, Twitter, QHopper, Airbnb, Webinarjam, Leadpages

What's most frustrating and rewarding about entrepreneurship/innovation?

Frustrating:
- Discipline to keep on track & not get distracted
- Time...where did it go? Can I get it back?

Rewarding:
- Making a difference and ACTUALLY solving the pains people have...this is really so RAD!
- Being independent, creative & fast to test and implement ideas!
- Knowing what you are doing will be used by people around the world - across all languages and cultures! :)

What's the No. 1 mistake entrepreneurs/innovators make?

Lack of focus and clarity on what your trying to achieve!

What are the top three lessons you've learned as an entrepreneur?

1. Persistence & tenacity - just keep going!
2. Manage time effectively - 80/20 - its not about working hard - its about working smart!
3. Look after yourself through your entire entrepreneurial journey as burn out is not worth it - discipline to keep things balanced on all levels!

Full bio

My love of innovation and business started from the age of 12 when I worked and saved up to become an accerdited and trained fitness instructor. I ran my own fitness and dance consultancy from the age of 13. I immediately got a great role out of high school as the marketing and event coordinator for the worlds largest group fitness company (Les Mills)! This took me around Australia & the Asia Pacific organising and marketing events, projects and products.

I moved to the US, Edinburgh & London following my dance and fitness career when I realised want wanted to learn and diversify my skills. I managed a fitness music label and helped set up relations with big partners for the product (Lucozade, London Marathon etc).

I relocated back to Australia and went through university studying marketing, advertising, digital engineering & business. I deeply embedded myself in the Australian startup/ innovation scene while doing full time universtiy and launching Body Training Systems into the Australia/New Zealand market.

I moved onto manage a large tech team of a 50mil AUD real estate website (3rd largest in Australia) and other clients (both public, private and non-for-profit companies). I was one of the 15 women awarded with a Women and Leadership Australia Scholarship in 2012.

Founded 7write early 2013. 1 of the 9 companies around the world (out of 550+ applications) to be accepted into a global accelerator program in Amsterdam Feb 13’ (Startupbootcamp Amsterdam).

We built a simple one-click global self-publishing platform for authors & publishers with the ability to easily whitelabel for corporates.

I went onto heading up raising an early seed round of $250K from investors both in Australia and Europe (one including the original investor for PayPal). We graduated out of SBC A’dam June 28th and presented our product to 400 investors from around Europe, to the Queen of the Netherlands & the European Commissioner for the Digital Agenda, Neelie Kroes.

I am now honoured to drive 7write forward as the CMO/BDM to ensure 'every story is told'!
