Steve Stratz is a co-founder and partner of Illuminate Public Relations. He brings more than 13 years of communications and PR experience to his alliance with partner Minou Nguyen.
Steve has significant technology experience with a vast number of Web and digital technologies and services, including software, online advertising, search engines, gaming, e-commerce, wireless and interactive TV. He has worked for or with a number of leading-edge companies, including Zango, aQuantive (parent to Avenue A | Razorfish, Atlas and DRIVEpm), Microsoft, Vulcan, Inc., InfoSpace, Go2Net, Aptimus (formerly FreeShop.com), Washington State Lottery, Piper Jaffray and Deloitte & Touche.
Steve has extensive media and analyst relations experience – a natural progression after spending more than three years as a TV news producer both in Seattle and Spokane, Washington for CBS and ABC respectively. During Steve's career he has launched an array of company and client initiatives and products, while leading major announcements, including re-branding and mergers & acquisitions. A notable accomplishment includes leading aQuantive's acquisition of Razorfish, creating the largest interactive agency in the world. He has also led a number of significant crisis communications situations, including Zango's settlement agreement with the Federal Trade Commission.
He has a lengthy track record of media relations successes, including strategic execution with leading publications, including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Forbes, Associated Press, Reuters, Bloomberg, The Los Angeles Times and an array of technology and locally-focused publications and media outlets.
Steve holds a B.A. in Communications from Washington State University. He is active in the WTIA, where he drives the Marketing Special Interest Group events and provides pro-bono PR services to the Northwest Internet Advertising Group.
