The Mere Idea
TheAcademy.com
I want to do meaningful work on my own terms!
I like little start ups the best! So much drive and so much passion!
Having so many ideas that they get mixed together and run together if the most frustrating thing right now. once I focused in on the idea that I loved and felt I could sustain, it's been non stop ever since!
Hesitating is by far the biggest mistake. I know so many people with great business ideas that are waiting for the economy to get better / their idea to completely figure itself out / the sky to turn to chocolate. At that rate, they will spend their whole lives thinking and waiting and thinking some more.
Be resourceful! Be resilient! Be respectful!
After graduating in 2004, I started working as a web developer for an internet based training company providing custom learning solutions to some of the largest organization and associations in the United States. I was promoted rapidly and often, eventually making Senior Vice President of a 23 person company by January 2010. During my tenure, I oversaw both a system and product redesign, outstanding company growth and took on increasing leadership roles. My commitment to the team, clients and professional partners was unmatched, if I do say so myself.
In August of 2010, I parted ways to pursue other adventures including freelance consulting work, small business marketing solutions and entrepreneurial counseling. My small but growing clientele eventually enlightened me to my true passion and goals: providing entrepreneurial guidance, simple but cost effective solutions for start up’s and motivating people to get off the couch and get busy turning their business ideas into real businesses.
In December 2010 “The Mere Idea”, a site dedicated to collecting interviews and advice from entrepreneurs to be shared with those individuals seeking inspiration and motivation was conceived. The idea continues to grow and mature even today. The site officially launched January 10, 2011 and has already collected a large number of interviews from some of today’s up and coming business owners and entrepreneurs. If you would like to share your story and advice, please visit here for my proposition and a listing of our standard interview questions.
More personally, I’m married to the man of my dreams, have two fantastic teenagers, three incredible step children and live on a ranch in south Texas. I love to cook, bake and garden, though most of the time it turns out poorly for the garden. I have a lot of hobbies that I make some money from, such as selling home made cactus jelly and chicken eggs from our flock here on the ranch. On any given day, you can find me glued to my computer, scouring the internet for great tips and advice, trying a new recipe in the kitchen or sitting my the mesquite fire in the yard. Life is great!
