I am a(n):

Entrepreneur

Companies I've founded or co-founded:
Teckedin.com, Records and Data Management, Inc.
Achievements (products built, personal awards won):

Founded two companies. Teckedin.com was built from scratch using topcoder.com for design and development.

If you're an entrepreneur or corporate innovator, why?

I want to be my own boss, and be in control.

My favorite startups:

Apple, Uber

Why did you start your company or why do you want to innovate inside your company?

As a small reseller/VAR in the tech industry I was spending a lot of money and resources following the pack: landing pages, CRM, email campaigns, but if no one comes to your website all this automation is a waste of time and money. Wanted to create something different to help both sides of the platform. End users are tired of getting marketed to and reseller/VARs are not making big inroads on their lead generation. Also, wanted something without the social component. No Ads or opt-ins.

What's most frustrating and rewarding about entrepreneurship/innovation?

Trying to do everything by yourself because hard to find resources. Getting the right messages to resonate with the two sides of my platform.
Very rewarding to build something from scratch and get feedback that I am on to something.

What's the No. 1 mistake entrepreneurs/innovators make?

Spend money too fast on the wrong things. Too optimistic, without a business plan or strategy.

What are the top three lessons you've learned as an entrepreneur?

Don't get discouraged because others don't have your passion.
Get involved in peer groups where you have people that are having the same issues as yourself.
Be open-minded.

Full bio

Founder of Records and Data Management.  In our 27th year.  Our mission is to decrease the burden of processing paperwork. We have developed applications for helping with records inventories and records retention schedules. We are VARs (Value-added-resellers) for a handful of solutions for scanning/capture and document management.

In 2016 I started development of a platform to help Line of Business Executives connect with technology providers.  It is called teckedin.com. My goal was to be live on January 1st, 2018, which we did.  Currently in the chicken and egg stage working on building the user base.

Records and Data Management and Teckedin.com have been self-funded.
