Full bio
Anil developed the vision for SecondSpace and spends his time recruiting great people, setting overall company strategy, visiting with customers and assessing the next big market opportunities for the company. Prior to founding SecondSpace, he was Senior Vice President of New Businesses for Classmates Online. At Classmates he launched several new businesses, including Classmates Europe, which has since grown to over 3 million registered users. Anil led the team working on Classmates’ IPO prior to the company’s $150 million sale to United Online (NASDAQ: UNTD). Previously, Anil spent 6 years at VeriSign where, as an early member of the executive team, he helped grow the company from a start-up into a multi-billion-dollar global concern. Anil was instrumental in launching numerous high-growth businesses, generating hundreds of millions of dollars in annual revenues and billions of dollars in shareholder value, and building VeriSign into a global brand. Anil served as Senior Vice President of Corporate Marketing and Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Enterprise Division and was part of the team that completed VeriSign’s highly successful IPO and over a dozen strategic acquisitions. Anil created the VeriSign Secure Site seal, the ubiquitous sign of secure e-commerce prominently displayed on web sites across the Web today. Prior to VeriSign, Anil spent 7 years at American Express, most recently as Vice President of the Affinity Card Group, launching the New York Rangers and New York Knicks Cards. He also held roles in New Product Development and Direct Response Television where he built 1-800-THE-CARD into a national brand. Anil began his career at Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) where he learned just enough about programming to be dangerous. Anil serves on the board of directors of Trumba Corporation and is an advisor to FloorPlanOnline. He holds a B. Mgt. degree (with great distinction) from the University of Lethbridge, where he was named Alumnus of the Year in 2000, and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was a Fishman-Davidson Fellow and Dean's Award recipient. He also recently earned a Certificate in Screenwriting from The University of Washington to exercise his love for writing and editing. Anil and his wife are strong supporters of the arts, education and conservation in rural communities. They have also established a charitable foundation to support impoverished children in India. Anil learned a lot about the importance and impact of knowledgeable local service professionals from his father, a former Realtor® and President of the Vancouver Island Real Estate Board. Anil and his family create traditions and memories at a beautiful ocean retreat in British Columbia and a resort on the island of Maui.
