Abakar has a background in technology investing and operations. After beginning his career in mergers and acquisitions at Goldman Sachs, Abakar went on to work for Francisco Partners as a private equity investor - a role in which he has helped lead business diligence, public takeovers, restructurings and financing rounds. Abakar lived in Beijing for 18 months studying Mandarin Chinese and then went on to read Economics and Statistics at Warwick.
Abakar started his first business at 14 opening a sweet shop that was open during break time and bulk-buying the stock from outlet retailers. While living in China aged 18 he helped establish and run a golf academy with a former Irish pro golfer Mick Quaid at the venue that went on to become part of the olympic park. While at university I was on the executive team organising the Warwick Economics Summit - the biggest student-run economics forum in the world and includes speakers like John Nash, Alastair Darling, George Akerlof and Nick Leeson. While at Goldman Sachs, he joined the board of Nite Bite, the corporate food delivery platform, and helped build the restaurant network.
