Sam Keller began his career in Costa Rica, where he managed nationwide development programs as the director for Amigos de las Americas. Afterwards Sam worked for six years as a Projects Officer at the International Finance Corporation (IFC), which is the private sector arm of the World Bank Group. Sam was responsible for identifying, structuring, and financing environmentally beneficial private sector projects in developing countries. Sam developed and oversaw a highly successful initiative to shift lighting markets in Peru and Argentina towards energy-efficient products. He also financed a range of innovative projects that conserve biological diversity, including ecotourism in Peru, sustainable marine ornamentals fishing in Indonesia, organic agriculture in Poland, and crab processing in the Philippines. Sam has been interviewed on television, radio, and newspapers in many countries. Sam’s academic studies have included considerable finance, accounting, economics, and management. He earned a BS in Social Sciences from the University of Akron and a Masters in Public Policy from Harvard University.
