I am a software developer right now. Came over to the dark side about 5 years ago. In a previous life I was incarnated as an engineer and developed tools and equipment and processes for doing specialized engineering work. Got some of my stuff patented, tried to sell it, nobody wanted to buy (yawn), figured I would go into the business myself using my equipment - Yee Haw actually made a living doing it! Even got to sue somebody for patent infringement - that is another story. Prior to all this that I was in the US Army and worked for Exxon Oil Company. I am just crazy enough to think that software development could be fun, although after a product is done then ya gotta sell it. THAT is the other 185% of the job.
