GettingHired, an organization focused on careers and community for people with disabilities, announced on Thursday it secured $3 million of additional investment from Zenith Insurance Company, Kamine Development Corp and Fisher Capital.

Launched back in November of 2008, GettingHired.com serves as an online career center with social networking features for people with disabilities.

People looking for jobs can use the service free of charge.  Once signed up there's quite a bit they can do from building a profile and connecting with other users, to even uploading a video profile.  The site has a proprietary technology called RightMatch, which matches users with opportunities that meet their profile criteria.  So all in all, GettingHired is a bit more than a job listing board.

But it's got to make money somehow.  The site has quite a bit of an audience.  For advertisers, GettingHired said it has an user base of 22 million working age Americans with disabilities.  The current unemployment rate for that demographic is around 13.7 million, according to the United States Disability Status Report.   Potential employers can also take advantage of the audience through annual subscriptions.  I've reached out to see what kind of revenue the site is generating but am awaiting a response.

The site also announced a new product called FastTrackRTW, which is a return to work initiative supporting long term disability workers' compensation.

Bedminster, N.J.-based GettingHired plans to use the funds to support growth and finalize development of FastTrackRTW.
