OnehubOnehub, provider of a collaboration application for the Web, announced Thursday the closing of a $1.3 million Series A round of funding from Ignition Partners and several angel investors.

Besides the new financing, Onehub will be adding three new members to its board of directors: Richard Fade, who, before joining Ignition Partners, worked 16 years at Microsoft, where he adopted multiple and varied leadership roles throughout the company; Doug Henrich, another Microsoft veteran after serving as General Manager for 11 years; and David Anastasi, previously CEO of Captaris, which was acquired by OpenText in late 2008.

Sown out of aggravation stirred by the endless complications and confusions of trying to collaborate via traditional means (email, extranets, etc.), Onehub seeks to be a flexible online collaboration solution for businesses where coworker to coworker communication is vital to the success of company projects.

In addition to basic collaboration tools like sharing tasks, calendars, and contacts, Onehub features a tool for creating a fully secure extranet in minutes, the ability to transfer files of sizes up to 5 GB, and the option to embed videos in the hub. Judging by screenshots of the actual application, one can tell that Onehub has a Web 2.0 look and feel in mind: different sections are well-organized, the aesthetic is pleasing, and the focus is on connecting users.

Already, Onehub boasts that 35,000 business users use Onehub to connect globally with customers, coworkers, and partners.

“This is an exciting investment decision for all parties, as more and more small and medium-sized businesses turn to SaaS collaboration solutions to help them be more efficient, save time and money, as well as increase customer satisfaction,” says Onehub CEO Charles Mount.

Likely, the new funding will go towards further development and distribution of Onehub's web application.
