There are a variety of supplies that your business will need when using your postage meter. These supplies will be dictated by what additional machines you have selected to use in conjunction to your postage meter. A relatively basic mail system would include a postage meters equipped with a digital scales and a label printer. Therein, one could weigh, label and postmark outgoing mail. Postage meters alone will generally use ink and envelope sealer. These two items are available from office supply stores (online or locally) or through your postage meter vendor.

In the above mailing system scenario, printable shipping labels would also be a necessary office supply. Labels are much like printer cartridges, not all labels work with all printers. You will need to find a vendor who sells the labels specified by your machine. The labels can be found through office supply retailers either online or in stores.

Shopping around for the best prices is always a sound idea. Some businesses prefer to have their supplies delivered automatically after a specified amount of time. This can lock in a discounted rate as well as ensure that your office is never out of supplies; however it is necessary to really understand your supply needs before getting tied into this type of contract. Postage machine vendors have this sort of contract available as do online office suppliers.

Additional Equipment Supplies

More complex mailing systems that include digital scales, collating features, or shrink wrappers to name a few, will require more specialized supplies sometimes specific to machine type. When deciding if additional mailing equipment is right necessary for your mail system, be sure to include supply costs on a per-piece basis to be clear about all the added expenses.

Postage meter supplies are readily available both from online office supply retailers, postage meter vendors or office supply stores. Researching the best prices for supplies and machines will ensure that your mail system is a cost effective alternative to private shipping providers or taking packages directly to the post office.
