MojoPages, a local search listings startup, announced it raised $5 million in Series A financing led by Austin Ventures.

The Solana Beach, Ca.- based company functions similar to Yelp, in that it lists local business and allows other users to review them.   MojoPages focuses solely on white-label listings.  It’s created an embeddable local listing search engine which media partners like local TV and radio stations have integrated onto their sites.

The company says it has over 1,000 media partners contracted.

Mike Dodd from Austin Ventures said in the press release I found on peHUB, “MojoPages has developed a differentiated solution which enables local media companies to extend their brands into the most attractive and profitable online advertising segment – local search.”

Founded two years ago, the company has grown its directory of local listings to 15 million local merchants. Some of its media partners include Belo Corp., KFMB (CBS8), Salem Web Network and Triton Digital.

Beyond having individual companies sign up and list their business on MojoPages directory, it plans to aggregate listings from across the Web, and that’s exactly what this fundraising round will be used for.   Jon Carder, CEO of MojoPages told TechCrunch the company plans to further develop the capabilities of its search engine and grab reviews from sites like Yelp, CitySearch and YellowPages.
