Pandora, a personalized Internet radio service, is one of the most popular free iPhone apps, with 5 million downloads since launching an iPhone app in September 2008. After launching a Blackberry app last month, Pandora has 1 million activations.

Will we ever see Pandora on the Android platform?  Not until it improves its audio capabilities says Joe Kennedy, CEO of Pandora who was interviewed on stage by Bambi Francisco at the EconnSM conference in San Francisco, Ca.

"Mobile is not simply about being on a device, it's about creating a truly great experience in which every piece of the puzzle works," explained Kennedy.  He then elaborated further saying the Android phones Pandora looked into didn't even have a standard audio jack, instead, a USB port for headphones.

Pandora is also working with automakers to integrate its Internet radio service in automobiles.  Currently, Ford is the first publicly announced vehicle that will come pre-installed with Pandora embedded into its stock radios.

When asked about the future of Pandora and its application on mobile devices, Kennedy said the Palm Pre is definitely of serious interest for Pandora, and will be able to support a more powerful mobile Pandora in comparison to what is out there today.

Check out the video for words and insights about where we can expect to find Pandora in the near future from CEO, Joe Kennedy.
