Want to learn how to cook-up a breakfast burrito Web 2.0 style?  Yummy.  Checkout Foodista.com, which Amazon has taken liking to by feeding it a tasty Series A round.  The financial terms have yet to be disclosed, but peHUB reports that based on a regulatory filing it's somewhere around $600,000.

Foodista launched in December of 2008 and is a collaborative food encyclopedia, like a Wiki, where users can contribute and edit all sorts of recipes.  The site also features information on foods, techniques and kitchen tools.

Founder and CEO Barnaby Dorfman is happy.  In a statement he said, “We are thrilled to have Amazon.com as an investor, especially since they pioneered community-based content development on the Web.”

The Seattle based startup is on top of all the current Web trends as they leverage open source software, cloud computing resources, and user participation to rapidly develop cooking content.  For example, Foodista isn't going out and taking photos of food, it's simply leveraging Flickr photos.  I grabbed the picture of the fancy looking burrito from Foodista's site.

With this round of funding, Dorfman simply stated, “Their investment will help us introduce more food lovers to Foodista in the months to come.”
