Evernote, an application that helps you organize digital notes and then search within them, on Thursday announced its raised $4.5 million in funding. The second round was led by Russian firm, Troika Dialog.

In a nutshell, you can take a photo of a receipt with your cell phone using the Evernote application, sync it to your Evernote organizer on your computer, which then synchronizes to your online Evernote account and makes the text from the photo you took searchable.

You can also add audio notes and Web screen shots to your library.  This free service allows users up to 40MB per month of uploads.

There is also a $5 dollar per month premium version which upgrades your data limit to 500MB.

In November of 2008, Techcrunch reported Evernote had reached 512,000 users who’ve created a total of 13.8 million notes.

Sunnyvale, Calif.-based Evernote, which was founded in 2004, is up for a ‘Crunchie’ award tonight taking place in San Francisco, CA.
