Here's a roundup of some companies in the mobile, video, digital media, social network, and advertising sectors that raised money this past week.
Casual game distributor Big Fish Games raised $83.3 million from Balderton Capital, General Catalyst Partners,
and Salmon River Capital, which received common stock for their
investment, according to a release. The 310-employee company runs an online portal for games and
interactive entertainment and works with more than 500 game developers.
Envivio took a $25 million financing from Harbourvest, Atlantic Bridge, and Samsung Ventures, according to a release. The San Francisco-based company provides IP video convergence encoding solutions from mobile to HD.
MyHeritage
Ltd., a family-oriented social network, raised a $15 million investment from Index Ventures and Accel Partners. MyHeritage has a network of more than 25 million family members
worldwide, more than 260 million profiles, and 230 million photos, according to a release. The family tree and celebrity
face recognition website is based in Tel Aviv. (My video review of the site is in this piece.)
BitGravity Inc. raised $11.5 million from Indian conglomerate Tata Group's Tata
Communications Ltd< according to Business Week. The Silicon Valley
startup is a content delivery newtork.
PrivateOutlet.com,
an online, membership-based designer clothing club, completed a
$10.2 million financing round, according to VentureWire. The European
based private shopping club received funding from Baytech Venture
Capital, GP Bullhound Sidecar, and Kreos Capital.
Sportgenic
Inc. closed a $10 million Series B financing from Adams Street
Partners, Aslop Louie Partners, KPG Ventures, and Greycroft Partners,
according
to PE Hub. The company is an ad network for sports media sites, and counts more than 20 million users per month across its network.
Inlet
Technologies raised $10M more from Core Capital Partners, Technology
Venture Partners, Telecommunications Development Fund, and Capitol
Broadcasting Company, according to a VentureBeat. The North-Carolina
based company enables new media for new networks.
Pressmart
Media Ltd. raised a $6 million round of funding from Draper Fisher Jurvetson and
NEA IndoUS Ventures, according to PE Hub. The New York and
India-based company helps print media to deliver content via the Web.
Legend Films Inc. raised a $5 million Series E round of funding to support its new three-dimensional conversion technology, film distribution business and movie commentary Web site RiffTrax.com, according to PE Hub.
Mpowerplayer Inc., a provider of mobile game trial and merchandising applications for the wireless industry, secured $2.5 million in Series A funding, according to a release.
