Shadab Frooqui, the youthful co-founder and CEO of brand new startup iJigg, makes the case to Vator.tv's John Shinal that there is room for a new music discovery service in a market already crowded with huge rivals such as iLike and MySpace.

iJigg focuses on little-known international music, says Frooqui, whose company got a seed round last summer from YCombinator. It also attracts a younger audience and is hugely popular in Thailand, a phenomenon which, like Orkut's appeal in Brazil, shows how idiosyncratic overseas Web audiences can be.

It's also developing what it calls "band analytics," which lets new musicians find out who is listening to their  tunes.
