If you're a startup seeking opportunities to get funded, educated or connected, startup competitions are a great resource.

Vator has been holding its own competitions, using VatorX, to find and filter for the best startups. We've had some very successful and notable winners in the past that have gone on to raise big funding rounds including Thumbtack, DogVacay, Pokitdok, Grovo, Udemy and Apartment List, to name a few.

Anyone can list their program as VatorX is one of the most comprehensive listing guides to startup competitions, challenges, accelerators and programs. Click here to list your program!

As part of our weekly series, we'll look at top competitions with big cash prizes, as well as competitions that have teed up the most promising startups, to finding popular startup competitions you need to know about.

On September 27, we will be holding a salon, in conjunction with HP, where we take a deep dive into precision health. Precision health encompasses precision medicine. What is precision medicine? It’s a move toward tailored and personalized medicine vs a one-size-fits-all approach. Precision health is more about disease prevention and detection. It’s about providing targeted, predictive and preventative care.

Here are some of the startup competitions that are focused on companies in the precision health space:

Pitch Perfect cropped

Description: "For well over a decade, this conference has united active investors with corporate business development executives to syndicate investment opportunities with promising start-ups in the biopharma, diagnostics, medical device, health IT, and health services sectors."

Previous winners: Prenosis, Ariel Precision Medicine

PMWC Precision Medicine World Conference

Description: "The successful Company Competition Track has been accompanying the Annual Personalized Medicine World Conference since 2010 with the goal to assist developing and emerging startup companies in Diagnostics, Therapeutics, and Health Tech, to increase their visibility, provide them with a platform to present to a group of leading investors, as well as to potential clients and partners so they can succeed on their path forward."

Prize: A winner will be chosen by the judges and the audience (voting by text) on stage and receives the “Most Promising Company Award,” which guarantees increased visibility and recognition, as demonstrated with past winners.

Previous winners: T2 Biosystems, Horizon Discovery, Auxogyn, Nodality, QuantaLife

Description: "Welcome to SplashX Invent Health (#splashxinventhealth), a quarterly twilight salon-styled tech talk and mixer produced by HP and Vator, where valuable lessons and insights are shared by investors, founders, and C-level executives from healthtech startups. Splash Talks and Splash Chats are 20 minutes of pure, raw wisdom about a particular topic - sometimes fundraising, sometimes scaling."

This is not a pitch competition, but an opportunity to present and join the salon.

Description: "This global, incentivized competition will inspire breakthrough genome sequencing innovations and technologies with the potential to create a new era of personalized medicine."

Prize: $10 million will be awarded to the first team to rapidly, accurately and economically sequence 100 whole human genomes to an unprecedented level of accuracy.
