M&A activity in the warehouse robotic space
Robots are taking over the heavy lifting work inside warehouses
Read more...On the one hand I'm horrified by the rise of Donald Trump, but on the other hand I'm kind of fascinated.
Maybe it's the journalist in me, but I'd love to get a peek into his mind. Does he really believe the stuff he says, or is it all an act? Does he really believe that he can do the things he says he can do, or is he just playing on people's emotions? I don't know that I'd get a truthful answer to those questions, but it would be great to ask.
Well, now I'll have my chance, as the Republican candidate for president announced on Monday that he will be doing an "Ask Me Anything" on Reddit on July 27th.
As soon as I heard this news I immediately came up with a series of questions I'd love to ask him, such as:
Politicians on Reddit
Trump isn't the first candidate to take to Reddit to connect with voters. Rand Paul, Trump's old rival for the nomination, did an AMA in January, which got 12,664 comments. Here were some of the highlights of that exchange:
A: 1. I have actual plans and policy to solve our problems
2. I in now way shape or form intend to shut down the internet
3. I have way better hair
A: Kentucky bourbon, of course!
A: A debate with me and Bernie would be great. People would be well served by it. I've already publicly offered to debate Bernie right now. In the Dem debate Bernie seemed to be uncomfortable talking about the actual cost of his programs for tax payers. We need real solutions without bankrupting our country.
A: If you've been following along on social media you should already know the answer! Lord of Rings of course. We can't elect Gollum!
And, of course, there was a question about his hair.
A: It takes a lot of work. I don't let anyone touch a strand of it but me.
The gold standard for politicians doing an AMA, though, will probably always be President Obama, who did one in 2012, resulting in record traffic for the site. The Obama AMA received some 219,500 up votes and 215,900 down votes, along with 23,650 comments.
Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton hasn't done an Ask Me Anything yet, though she does have a Reddit account, which has been used just one time: to thank her supporters on the site a few months ago. Perhaps seeing Trump do his will inspire her to jump on as well. If she does, I promise a list of questions I'd like to ask her as well (and, oh man, are there a lot of them!).
I should also mention the timing of Trumps' AMA: The official post will go out at approximately 6:30 PM eastern time, and the Trump will begin answering questions at 7:00 PM. That's exactly the same time that Vice President Biden and President Obama will be speaking at the Democractic National Committee.
Well played, Mr. Trump. Well played.
What are some of the questions you'd like to ask Trump during his AMA on Wednesday?
