Apple store customers can now control their home energy consumption with the newest addition to the company catalog: The Nest Thermometer.

The Nest Thermometer has been getting great buzz lately since it is a small and simple tech device that learns your patterns and preferences to efficiently heat and cool your home and help you save energy.

The mountable disc takes just 30 minutes to install and, usually about a week to really get your schedule down.  You can even name the thermometer -- I would name mine Vlad. Vlad seems like he would be strict with my energy consumption.

Even if this wasn't a sleek, smart tech device that Apple would love, the Founder and CEO of the Nest Thermometer is also the Senior Vice President of the iPod Division at Apple, Tony Fadell.

So starting today, people looking to bring some high-tech to their home heating system can get it from the Apple store for $249.95.

This is the second large retail expansion for Nest this week. Just yesterday, the company announced that retailers in Canada would now get to purchase the thermometer.

Lowes also sells the device for the same price

And Nest isn't just resting its company on a sleek design, the company promises that the device will help out with energy bills in the long term and allows users to adjust settings from anywhere with any iOS or Android device.

With 10% of all U.S. energy is controlled by thermostats, upgrading that beige manual box to a digital device that can be adjusted from anywhere can lead to some much wiser consumption of energy.

Nest even sets out the expectation that users can save $6,000 over 20 years by using their system over the manual box that doesn't have any programing functionality.

Now if it could just remember to turn my stove off, we would be in the deal!
