AppFirst, an SaaS-based provider of an application problem resolution system, announced Tuesday that it has raised a $4 million Series A funding round led by Javelin Venture Partners, with participation from original backers FirstMark Capital and First Round Capital.

As part of the agreement, Javelin managing director Noah Doyle will join the company’s board of directors.

With its patent-pending “Miss Nothing Data” technology,” AppFirst enables application architects and development-operations teams to offer customers the most reliable and best performing applications, no matter how many servers IT has to deal with.

This includes problem resolution for finding and fixing problems faster, file search and visualizations, customizable alerts and much more. For some good use cases of AppFirst, check out this page, which explains it all clearly.

“Our company has recognized phenomenal adoption with over 2,000 applications monitored and over 40,000 hours of product usage in less than a year,” said David Roth, CEO of AppFirst. “Partnering with Javelin, and expanding our existing relationship with FirstMark and First Round, will give us the fuel to expand our team and continue to scale operations to support ongoing growth.”

Testimonials from some current clients of AppFirst can be found on the company’s home page; some names listed there include AdBuyer, Baynote, Burgiss Group, CloudSigma, Dell Boomi (a part of Dell since November 2010), Isotop AB, IT Passion, MapleTime, Sbemco and SocialSci.

Additionally, the company is partnered with Amazon, Couchbase, Engine Yard, OpSource, SoftLayer and others.

Interested parties can try out AppFirst under its free 14-day trial, after which they can switch to two pricing plans. For .75 cents per server per hour, the “Standard” plan includes cloud provider management, API access and other basic AppFirst features. For 2.5 cents per server per hour, the “Professional” plan also throws in more advanced features for resolving issues and correlating data from multiple sources.
