While Tumblr mulls a mega-round, smaller early-stage startups snap up capital for themselves

Tumblr, a New York City-based microblogging platform, may be close to raising between $75 and $100 million in a venture capital round that values the startup at around $800 million.

 

Early-stage

6fusion, a provider of utility-metered public, private and hybrid cloud infrastructure management software and services, completed a $7 million round of funding led by Vienna, Virginia-based Grotech Ventures.

 

AliveCor, which makes it possible to use your iPhone Android as a personal heart rate monitor, has raised a $3 million Series A led by Burrill & Company, with participation from Qualcomm Ventures and the Oklahoma Life Science Fund.

Druva, provider of enterprise data protection solutions, raised a $12 million Series B funding round led by Nexus Venture Partners with participation from existing investor Sequoia Capital.

Hopper, a stealth travel startup founded by a team of former Expedia employees, raised $8 million in new funding from Atlas Venture and Brightspark Ventures.

 

NextDocs, provider of Microsoft SharePoint-based software for life sciences companies, received a $10.3 million Series A from OpenView Venture Partners.

Taptera, developer of Apple mobile enterprise apps, secured $2 million in Series A funding led by investor Terence Garnett, with participation from Salesforce and an array of CEOs, investors and luminaries.

Tawkon, developer of a smartphone application that can recognize increased levels of radiation, raised $1.5 million from thetime.

 

Virsto, provider of storage virtualization software, added another $5 million to the $12 million Series B raised in June of this year, bringing the round total to $17 million.

Vizibility, a proactive personal branding platform for individuals and companies, closed $1.3 million led by Launchpad Venture Group with participation from Boston Harbor Angels, New York Angels, TiE Angels and others.

Wanova, provider of a turnkey desktop cloud solution, raised $10 million in a second round of funding.

Social incubator YouWeb raised $2 million from its existing investors. Additionally, the incubator, created by CrowdStar CEO Peter Relan, also hired tech veteran Michelle Sangster as its SVP of business development.

 

Late-stage

Couchsurfing secured $7.6 million in new funding from Benchmark Capital and Omidyar Network.
