Apple reports awesome financial results... but their iPhones are tracking you (and other news)

Amazon launched a new Library Lending feature that will allow Kindle users to borrow digital books from over 11,000 libraries across the country. The feature will be available for all generations of the Kindle. 

Apple announced that its revenues for Q2 2011 reached $24.67 billion, which is almost (not quite, but almost) double what it made this time last year and a record for second quarter revenues. In Q2 2010, the company saw $13.5 billion in revenues.

In unrelated news, a group of analysts discovered a data file stored in iPhones running iOS 4 that tracks every location the phone goes to (and has been doing so at least since the release of iOS 4).

Channel sales management solution provider Channelinsight raised $10 million in a Series C round led by Rho Ventures, with help from others.

HipGeo, helping people automatically record places they've been to, raised $500,000 in initial funding from Morado Venture Partners as well as Mike Marquez, and other angels.

Nokia and Microsoft completed the paperwork on their new partnership, which focuses on complementing each other's mobile offerings.

The New York Times reported operating profit was $31.1 million in the first quarter of 2011 compared with $52.7 million in the same period of 2010.

Verizon reported, along with its latest financials, that the company activated 2.2 million iPhones in its first quarter and 500,000 4G devices, including 260,000 HTC Thunderbolts.

ScoreBig, a new online tickets distributor, secured a $14 million first closing of its Series B financing, led by U.S. Venture Partners.

Several startups, including Fwix, Badger, CrowdFlower, UrbanQ, 360Cities and BestParking.com, had five minutes apiece today at Where 2.0 in Santa Clara, Calif. to show off the location-based services they're working on.
