Vator Splash is holding its popular evening startup event on May 26. This will be the second Splash event this year and the first time in LA.
To headline our inaugural Vator Splash LA event are founders of two of the hottest companies in the area, that went from startup to IPO in about five years. We'll have Shawn Colo, co-founder and head of M&A at Demand Media - one of the hottest IPOs ths year. And, Zorik Gordon, co-founder and CEO of ReachLocal, one of the hottest IPOs of last year.
Hear both men share their stories and lessons about building their companies to a successful exit and their views on the future of their respective industries.
As always, we'll be holding our startup competition to find the most promising startups. On hand to help vet these companies are some top venture capitalists from the area, including VCs from Rustic Canyon, Greycroft, Mission Ventures, and other well-known VCs from Javelin Venture Partners, VantagePoint, Walden Venture Capital.
Since holding these Splash events, some of our winners and finalists have made significant progress, from a fundraising standpoint. Udemy, the winner of Vator Splash May, went on to raise $1 million in funding a few months after presenting at Vator Splash. Dave McClure, one of the Vator judges at that even, ended up investing in Udemy. And, LawPivot, which was a semi-finalist and demo table presenter at our Splash event in September, recently raised $600,000 from Google Ventures, and high-profile angels.
