Children's book author Sandra Boynton will become the first author to hold an e-book signing event

To all the naysayers who said digital books and e-readers would never take off because you can’t get an author to sign your e-book, Barnes & Noble says, “Ha! In your face!”

The book giant Barnes & Noble has teamed up with author Sandra Boynton, who penned the best-selling 1982 children’s book, “The Going to Bed Book,” to host the world’s first e-book app signing event on May 2 at Barnes & Noble’s Upper East Side location in Manhattan.

Boynton will first do a reading from the original hard-back version of her book, and then using the Nook Color, she will give a demonstration of her new e-book app. A press conference just prior to the event will demonstrate the new e-book signing feature. And during the event, a team of ten aides with Nook Color tablets will come through the audience to work individually with children to show them how the e-book app works.

Boynton, under her new brand Boynton Moo Media, teamed up with Vancouver-based digital publisher Loud Crow in January to produce the digital version of “The Going to Bed Book” and other Boynton titles. Together, they have released two Boynton Moo Media e-book apps as of March, and they have plans to release another six e-book titles by the end of the year.

"We're definitely excited to be able to make history with this first-ever eBook app signing with Sandra," said Calvin Wang, Founder and President of Loud Crow Interactive, in a statement. "It's been an amazing collaboration between Loud Crow and Boynton Moo Media and for us to share this watershed moment in book publishing makes this partnership even more extraordinary."

For the event, children and adults are encouraged to show up at the Barnes & Noble store in their pajamas. Also present at the event will be 1960s British invasion rocker Billy J. Kramer, who narrates “The Going to Bed Book” app, and Boynton’s songwriting and composing partner Michael Ford.

Boynton is the author of over 50 children’s books and seven general audience books. Four of her titles have become New York Times Best Sellers, and she has also written and produced three gold albums and one platinum album with Michael Ford.
