Three startups in this week's roundup have the word "social" in their names

Early-stage

Mpire, provider of verification and optimization technology company, changed its company name to AdXpose and raised a $3 million  funding round  led by existing investor Draper Fisher Jurvetson.

Online pawnbroking service Borro raised £7.5 million in a round led by Augmentum Capital with participation from Eden Ventures and Rockridge Investments.

 

Chirply, a community of artists and designers, raised $1.1 million from several investors, including Keith Rabois, Warren Hellman, Dave McClure, Mitch Kapor, Charles River Ventures, and Ignition Partners.

 

 

GoldSpot Media, provider of mobile rich media and video advertising solutions, closed $12.05 million in Series B funding from Silicon Valley investors Exa Ventures and Berg Enterprises.

Google agreed to invest €3.5 million, or $5 million, in a solar photovoltaic plant in Germany.

 

 

 HouseTrip raised $2.7 million in Series A venture capital funding from Index Ventures.

 

 

Kiip, the in-game advertising solution that is in stealth mode raised a $4 million Series A round led by Hummer Winblad Venture Partners, with help from Crosslink Capital and existing investor True Ventures.

 


Livebookings, a service for making restaurant reservations and marketing, raised £6 million (nearly $10 million) in a round of funding from Balderton Capital and Wellington Partners.

me2me, a software company delivering productivity software solutions for enterprise mobility, raised 2.15 million Swiss francs ($2.34 million) in a first close of its Series A financing round.

 

MyHealthDIRECT, a company providing tech solutions to connect people with health providers, raised a $4 million Series B round from Arboretum Ventures and previous investor Chrysalis Ventures.

 

Poggled, a daily deals site for nightlife, raised $5.6 million according to an SEC filing.

 

 

Practice Fusion, an EMR and healthcare community, closed a $23 million Series B round of financing led by Founders Fund.

Ranker, a site for listing and ranking anything and everything, raised a $1.3 million Series A round of funding led by Tim Draper at Draper Associates, with participation from a few others.

SocialFlow, a social media optimization platform, raised $7 million in Series A funding led by Softbank, with participation from Softbank NY, RRE, Betaworks, Highline Venture Partners, AOL Venture Partners, SV Angel and several angel investors.

Real-time TV guide SocialGuide raised $1.5 million in funding led by a group of angel investors.

Spanning Cloud Apps, the makers of Spanning Backup for Google Apps, secured $2 million of funding from Foundry Group, a Boulder-based venture capital firm.

UsingMiles.com, a search engine and management tool for customer loyalty programs, closed a $2.7 million Series A round of funding. Along with the round, eBags.com founder and CEO Jon Nordmark became CEO of the company.

 

Xiu.com, China's biggest luxury and fashion online shopping website, raised a $20 million first round from famous Silicon Valley investor Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers.

 

Late-stage

Education software company Kno raised $30 million Series C round led by Intel Capital, which contributed a whopping $20 million to the round. Other participants in the round included Advance Publications and all of Kno’s previous investors, including Andreessen Horowitz, First Round Capital, FLOODGATE, and SV Angel.

 

 

LivingSocial has raised another $400 million in funding from several new and existing investors, according to multiple sources close to the company.

Logicworks, a provider of enterprise hosting and cloud computing solutions, raised $7.6 million in growth financing from Seaport Capital, LLC.

 

Marin Software, provider of an online advertising management platform for advertisers and agencies, secured an additional $16 million in Series E financing led by Crosslink Capital.

 

Rocket Fuel, the company "bringing rocket science to digital advertising," secured a $6.6 million Series C funding round led by Northgate Capital.
