Semantic Universe is seeking to identify and recognize promising start-ups in the SemTech field through the $12,000 SemTech Startup competition. Prizes for the No. 1 company - voted by peers and vetted by judges -- include a chance to present for 30 minutes in front of relevant attendees at the SemTech conference this summer, and a $7,000 sponsorship package.
Dramatic growth in semantics-based products and applications released over the past years means that semantic technologies are no longer a “future” technology – they’re here right now.
The mission of Semantic Universe is to raise awareness and explain the usage of semantic technologies in business and consumer settings. Projects by Semantic Universe include the annual Semantic Technology Conference, (SemTech) and the Semantic Universe network.
SemTech 2010 is the world’s largest, most authoritative conference on semantic technology for consumer and enterprise computing professionals features five days of presentations, panels, tutorials, announcements, new company/product launches, and conversations. It's a place for new learning, professional networking, and business development. Now in its sixth year, SemTech 2010 is the world’s largest educational conference for the community of executives, technologists, researchers, investors and customers who are involved with semantic technologies.
Who should apply:
Companies that provide at least a demonstrable “beta” product in the SemTech and or SemWeb space and have received no more than a Series A round of financing. We are looking for companies with systems or applications that provide value and demonstrate great applications of semantics on a small or large scale. Companies can be physically located anywhere in the world although they must have the financial means to attend the conference, (i.e. flights, hotel, etc. etc.)
