This competition is brought to you by Oakland Forward.
The Oaktown Startup Competition is for Oakland-based companies as well as startups located in the adjacent cities of San Leandro, Alameda, Berkeley, Emeryville, Oakland, Albany, El Cerrito and Richmond.
It's free to enter and to present on stage. All participants will have the opportunity to be featured in Live Work Oakland. And all participants (even if you're not a finalist) get 50% off the retail price of one general admission ticket. Once you apply to the competition, email [email protected] and ask for your code.
Applications will be accepted until April 1.
The top 5 finalists of this online competition (see competition rounds for details on how online voting works) will get to present on stage at Vator Splash Oakland on May 6 in front of some 1000 attendees.
The top 5 teams will get to bring two founders to the event for free.
The top 3 startups (based on the judges' votes online) will get a complementary demo table at the event.
We will notify the finalists by no later than April 22.
After presenting on May 6, one company out of the five finalists will be crowned on May 7 by a selection committee of judges. The winning company receives sit-down meetings with at least five VCs (TBD), plus $30,000 in in-kind prizes.
To qualify you must be under four years old, and have raised no more than $2 million in funding.
If you're not based in Oakland or the East Bay area, or even if you've participated in this competition already, you can also join the global Splash Oakland competition. It's free to enter and present as well.
