Viewdle - video search reinvented Startup/business

Viewdle looks inside every frame of a video to identify and deliver factual, contextually-relevant search results at a level of granularity not possible with existing video search functionality, most notably through pioneering facial-recognition technology.
Viewdle has developed a technology that allows the automatic indexing of low resolution TV quality videos, based on the semantical analysis of the image (face recognition, motion detection, body detection), the sound (speech2text) and textual information (metatags and optical character recognition). Combining robust technologies from all three dimensions -text, audio, and video- Viewdle delivers a semantically-accurate video search experience.
Its facial recognition engine is very scalable (less than 1% of false positive, on a database of 34,000 reference people, and growing), and fast (real-time performances on simple off-the-shelf servers, with sub-linear dependency to the size of the reference database). The technology is based on proprietary algorithms, developed by Viewdle's R&D team in Ukraine.
Since Viewdle's launch as a TechCrunch40 presenter in September 2007, the company has released a series of widgets, an election coverage tracker and a private beta of the ultimate video search destination site, Viewdle.tv. Please visit www.viewdle.com to see how it works and experience the Viewdle's differentiation first-hand.
Viewdle launched in September 2007 as a TechCrunch40 presenting company. Viewdle was named a "Best Technology Innovation/Achievement" Crunchies 2007 Award finalist and LIFT ’08 presenting company. Viewdle is also 2008 European Start-up of the Year, from the Plugg European Start-ups Rally 2008.
