Company description

UrSure makes urine tests that let doctors measure their patients' adherence to a medication called PrEP that prevents HIV if taken daily. UrSure has validated a lab-based urine test with multiple patient cohorts, and is currently developing a Point of Care version of the test.  UrSure got its start in 2012 when its cofounders Giffin Daughtridge and Dr. Helen Koenig started an HIV prevention clinic, which now prescribes PrEP to 160 young, gay men of color. In that clinic, the urine tests have increased PrEP adherence to over 80%, which is significantly higher than the national average.  To date, UrSure has won the Harvard Business School's New Venture Competition, the Harvard President’s Innovation Challenge, and received an SBIR Phase 1 grant. The team has expanded to 9 people and includes physicians, technical experts with extensive experience developing and commercializing diagnostic tests, and business experts with biotech and startup experience. UrSure is now working to provide this test to patients and providers nationwide through pilot programs with insurers, researchers, and departments of public health.
