Company description
SmartLit is a company built around supplying a product to the home automation market which is not currently available. When browsing through home automation product lines, customers are presented with complicated and expensive systems which provide a wide variety of features. If a customer is looking for simple, inexpensive, automatic control of devices in their home, they have extremely limited options. SmartLit aims to produce a product that will allow users to have simple home automation features without having to worry about programming schedules, using complicated controls, or configuring systems in the home. For example, if a customer has a space heater in their basement that they want to automatically switch off when they leave their home, they would be forced to purchase a home automation system, which cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars and may or may not offer this feature.
Current home automation systems are expensive and typically don't automatically respond when someone leaves their home. SmartLit’s solution to this problem is to create the product described in this business concept document. The end goal is to provide the customer with simple home automation capabilities which are inexpensive and easy to install and configure. SmartLit will do this by creating a Bluetooth-controllable device with an accompanying smartphone application (app) which plugs into an outlet in a customers' home. Lights/appliances/etc can then be plugged into the device which would allow the product to cut power or enable power if a Bluetooth device (iPhone or Android phone) with the installed app goes out of range. If multiple SmartLit devices are needed, they will automatically be networked together to extend the coverage area and capabilities of the network. Multiple devices will appear in the app and can be easily configured.
