Company description

RoadBotics monitor & manage roadways with tech developed at Carnegie Mellon Robotics Institute. We take in continuous streams of video from devices as simple as standard smartphones, upload that data to our machine-learning platform to continuously, automatically & precisely characterize specific roadway such features/conditions as cracks, potholes, signage, vegetation, debris & other features. These features are then quantitatively assessed, ranked and rendered (automatically & continuously) through our app. RoadBotics roadway monitoring & management is superior to both manual (e.g., visual inspection) and expensive road monitoring technologies, including video logging & ground penetrating radar. With the video logging the viewer is also the assessor, which is tedious, expensive and often results in highly subjective interpretations of video images. For large volumes of video data, which is likely the case of monitoring hundreds of miles of roadway, the likelihood of errors of omission and commission in characterizing features within video images is great. RoadBotics can collect, analyze and process vast quantities of video continuously and inexpensively and with higher degrees of precision and accuracy than any other available alternative. This continuous analysis allows for degradations in road conditions to be detected quickly and tackled before they become costly.
